4-I know our parents/guardians have such huge responsibilities for their children, our future, and huge decisions to make on a daily basis. I am so grateful for all of the families that have entrusted their children and have supported the decisions made thus far. I am also extremely grateful for the parents who have come forward at different board meetings to share their concerns, their beliefs, their hopes and their strong decisions regarding their children.

5-I know there are states in the US that have now eliminated mandates. I hope that our state does so for everyone. That information is “written in wet cement” as it changes often. I can appreciate the frustrations when the health department has to constantly update the guidelines for school districts in California.

6-I know that if we, the trustees of La Habra City School District, are given the option to decide whether or not to mandate wearing masks, I would vote to NOT MANDATE IT … but would rather choose to leave it to the families and the staff to make their own personal decisions … with the caveat that all understand that all personal decisions will be respected. Also, I want to be very clear on this, if given the choice, I would also vote to NOT MANDATE VACCINES.

7-I know that the data shows that the vaccines do not stop the spread, do not keep people from being infected BUT much of the data shows that people with comorbidities have in many cases benefited if they had been vaccinated prior to being infected. That being said, I also know that the data shows potential health hazards, that can last for a life time, for certain populations with potential heart issues, etc, especially the young, if they are inoculated. I would never tell someone to get the shot. I would always, if asked, encourage them to talk to their physicians and other medical team members.

When I first wrote these words, I was going to end after my last comment until I was sent the blog from a Canadian who lives in an apartment above the truck convoy. All he knew about the convoy was from the Canadian news and other news outlets. He chose to walk the convoy at night just recently, and speak with anyone who would converse with him. Here is the final paragraph of his recent blog from this week:

“As I finally made my way back home, after talking to dozens of truckers into the night, I realized I met someone from every province except PEI. They all have a deep love for this country. They believe in it. They believe in Canadians. These are the people that Canada relies on to build its infrastructure, deliver its goods, and fill the ranks of its military in times of war. The overwhelming concern they have is that the vaccine mandates are creating an untouchable class of Canadians. They didn’t make high-falutin arguments from Plato’s Republic, Locke’s treatises, or Bagehot’s interpretation of Westminster parliamentary systems. Instead, they see their government willing to push a class of people outside the boundaries of society, deny them a livelihood, and deny them full membership in the most welcoming country in the world; and they said enough.
